BASF Increases Prices for N-Methylpyrrolidone

Published on 2005-06-29. Author : SpecialChem

Effective July 1, 2005, BASF is increasing the sales price for N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) - all grades - globally as far as existing contracts permit by:

0.15 €/kg
0.10 USD/lb
0.20 USD/kg

The reasons for this increase are increased costs and unsatisfactory margins.

BASF is the world biggest producer of NMP with an annual capacity of 68,000 mt. NMP is used as a specialty solvent in - amongst others - electronic applications, wire coatings, agrochemicals, pharma, engineering plastic resins, and in selected chemical processes such as the BASF Butadiene extraction process.
