BASF Coatings announces relocation of its Automotive Refinish business to Deeside

Published on 2006-05-11. Author : SpecialChem

Following consultation with the Didcot based BASF Coatings Refinish team, agreement has been reached to relocate to the organisation's extensive head office and production facility based at Deeside, near Chester by July 2006.

This will bring all the BASF Coatings divisions under one roof, with the obvious benefits that having direct access to a core team of BASF technicians and colourists will bring to both refinish and OEM customers.

The key functions of technical and customer support will be maintained, providing both continuity and the highest level of service for both distributors and end users. Field based sales, technical and key account functions will remain unchanged.

BASF Coatings' comprehensive programme of automotive refinish training will continue at carefully selected locations throughout the UK.

"This relocation provides a natural synergy between the three Coatings divisions", said John Pearce, Managing Director of BASF Coatings in the UK.

BASF: A major international player in coatings

BASF Coatings AG belongs to the global Coatings Division of the BASF Group. In 2005 the Coatings Division achieved world sales of about 2.2 billion euros. The Coatings Division develops, produces and markets a high-quality range of innovative automotive OEM coatings, automotive refinishes and industrial coatings as well as decorative paints, and also the processes needed to apply them. In this business, eco-efficient water-based, powder and high-solids coatings as well as radiation-curable systems play a special part. In Brazil, the company has been successful in the decorative paints market for years and holds the leading position. BASF has a major, global presence in the Coatings sector, with significant market positions in Europe, North America, South America and the Asia/Pacific region, for example with affiliates in Australia, China, India, Japan, and the Philippines.
