"We will combine BASF’s know-how in polymer chemistry with SEPPIC's expertise in pharmaceutical coating systems to provide optimal solutions for our customers", said Eckart Stein, Group Vice President of Strategic Marketing Fine Chemicals at BASF.

Alejandro Berardi, Managing Director of SEPPIC, explained: "The innovative Kollicoat® range has major technical advantages compared to existing polymers on the market. The first stage of this collaboration will allow pharmaceutical companies to combine the coloured compositions within the SepifilmTM product line with the instant release polymer Kollicoat® IR from BASF."

The alliance between both companies will benefit customers by offering them a solution to their film coating problems, both in terms of technical and marketing requirements.

Pharmaceutical Film Coating systems are ready-to-use mixtures of polymers, plasticizers, colouring agents and other excipients that can be stirred into water, or an organic solvent using a regular mixer to give a dispersion for the film-coating of tablets.
