Axalta Reveals Results of National Automotive Color Preferences Survey in Mexico

Axalta reveals results of its second annual National Automotive Color Preferences Survey in Mexico. This survey evaluates preferred automotive colors. Also, the survey showed that nearly 60 percent of automobile buyers in Mexico prefer one of three colors - red, silver or white.

Red Leads Color Preferences in Mexico with 20 Percent


Red led the three “most preferred” colors with 20 percent of respondents citing it as their favorite. Red is especially popular in the center, north and southeast of the country, which represents more than half of the territory, particularly among women and millennials.

Evolving Trend Creates New Opportunity for Coatings Industry


In addition to be the favorite color among car buyers in Mexico, the survey also showed that 6 out of 10 consumers in the country would consider repainting their vehicles mostly to update the appearance and red would be the preferred option for them. This indicates an evolving trend among consumers and creates a new opportunity for the coatings industry to offer cost effective ways to meet this new demand.

This creates a new dynamic for the coatings and automotive industries. Axalta recently opened the research and development center dedicated to coatings and color, where more than 200 engineers and scientists are at the forefront of the industry are working to provide innovative and high technology solutions to satisfy customers’ needs around the world.
