Sassenheim, the Netherlands -- European bodyshops have been VOC-compliant for years. Now bodyshops worldwide can benefit from Sikkens Autowave - our proven waterborne technology paint system.

Legislation to reduce the emission of harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from paint products is set to spread around the world. It's being introduced in California, with other states and Canada to follow shortly. For paintshops, it could mean switching to a whole new range of products - a worrying prospect for many.

Sikkens has the solution

The Sikkens Autowave paint system has become a mainstay of collision repair centers throughout continental Europe, delivering the results, quality and performance our customers demand. At the same time, our expert advice and practical guidance is helping them make the smoothest possible transition to compliance.

"We've used Autowave for five years now. Today we're doing 65 repairs a week with higher quality and good profitability. Our personnel appreciate the easy handling and application."
Jonas Westerdahl, Autolack I Halmstad, Sweden

Taking care of the environment and customers

In late 2005, we began a series of seminars for distributors and customers, explaining the new regulations and the Autowave system.

"Akzo Nobel takes very seriously our obligation to both the environment and the livelihoods of our business partners," said Michiel Hoogendijk, West Coast Market Manager for Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes of the Americas. "We are pioneers in waterborne technology. It's been tried, successfully used and we are fully prepared today to meet our customer's needs."

"Autowave is easy to apply, it covers very well and the new 888 aluminiums give a great lay down."
Simon Clemence, Motorbodies Luton Ltd, UK

Going global

Autowave is a truly global product, with a formula assortment that can be extended to suit different markets and car makes. For the USA launch, for example, Autowave was formulated to match the market's specific color, toner assortment and application needs.

"Autowave mixing colors make all my problems disappear; coverage and color accuracy are sharp."
Ivo Tryman, bodyshop head sprayer, carrosserie Faes, Belgium
