Green Week in Berlin, race.tech in Munich with Formula 1 President Max Mosley - The world's first "BioConcept racing car", a project jointly sponsored by the non-profit making organizations German Aerospace Center (DLR), Agency of Renewable Resources (FNR), and the Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants (UFOP) together with the BASF Coatings' R-M label, is now to be presented to the general public at trade fairs and congresses. "This sustainable development project doesn't only relate to motor sport, but will provide the automotive industry as a whole with valuable know-how too", says Thorsten Schlatmann, R-M sales manager for Germany. The automotive industry, in particular, also keeps a very careful eye on all newly-developed products and research results and is now showing great interest in this project.

All the partners involved in this project put their faith in the principle of sustainability and are giving a clear signal in favor of the environment – as for body manufacturing and coatings. Doors, fenders, bumper, engine hood, and rear end are made of bio-fibers and have been impregnated with liquid bioplastic material. Again, the coating has to be exactly adapted to the material and the great stresses involved - that means it has to create a glossy overall impression.

"Participation in the Berlin Green Week is a particularly marvelous presentation opportunity for us and for all concerned. This platform will enable us not only to inform the general public but also to make further, important contacts." - This was Schlatmann's delighted comment on the project's "trade fair road map" for the next few weeks and months.

Some of the events at which the "BioConcept car" is due to appear are the "Renewable Raw Materials Conference" (November 23, Sartorius College Göttingen), the "race.tech" (November 24, TÜV Süd Automotive GmbH, Munich), the "Future Fuel Conference" (November 25, Haus der Land- und Ernährungswirtschaft Berlin), the "4th International Congress for Biofuels", ICC Berlin), the "Essen Motor Show" (December 1 to 10, Gruga Essen), and the "Green Week" in Berlin from January 19 to 28, 2007.

This year's participations have already included the "Tuning World" in Friedrichshafen, the "IdeenPark" on the Hanover Expo site, and the Mainz "Environment Day".
