Arkema has presented to the Works Council of its Serquigny industrial facility a project concerning the Rilsan® polyamide powder production units, aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the site while consolidating Arkema's world leading ranking in this area over the long term.

The Serquigny industrial facility specializes in the production of granule and powder high-performance technical polyamides 11 and 12, as well as copolymers marketed under the Pebax® brand.

Rilsan® fine powders are high-performance polymers used principally in anti-corrosion coatings (household electrical, automobile, paint, etc.), and in the fast-growing prototyping sector using laser technology.

Rilsan® polyamide powder is currently manufactured in two units in Serquigny. The project presented today to the Works Council extraordinary meeting concerns the grouping of production within a single unit.

The presentation of this project, backed by an investment of over € 5 M, includes a proposal for a consultation with labor unions on its implementation.

The roll-out of the project is subject to the legal information and consultation procedure involving labor unions. The project should result in the loss of 37 positions at the Serquigny facility. The project entails no lay-offs bearing in mind internal mobility opportunities.

A global chemical player, Arkema consists of 3 related and integrated business segments: Vinyl Products, Industrial Chemicals, and Performance Products. Present in over 40 countries with 18,400 employees, Arkema achieves sales of 5.7 billion euros. With its 6 research centers in France, the United States and Japan, and internationally recognized brands, Arkema holds leadership positions in its principal markets.
