Akzo Nobel Resins, Louisville KY, announced a price increase for all
Coating Resins sold in North America, to be effective July 15, 2004.
The increases range from $.03 to $.06/lb across all product lines and
are the result of continued, unprecedented raw material cost
increases.
After record setting cost increases in 2003, resin raw material costs
continue to defy gravity in 2004. These raw material cost increases
are being driven primarily by high crude and natural gas prices,
however, other factors including Asian demand, soybean oil, energy,
transportation and steel cost increases are further aggravating the
situation.
