The global center-which will work in close cooperation with a similar facility in Velp, the Netherlands-will play a major role in the development of new IT-related services for the collision repair industry.

Responsible for the development of IT bodyshop systems such as Carinfo and Sikkens, the new center in India will mainly focus on test work and activities in the area of data retrieval and programming. In the future, however, software development will also be performed in India.

"With the presence of the new ICT competence center in India we are able to further strengthen our technological position in the market," said Chris Wall, Global Marketing Manager for Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes.

"India gives us a window on human talent and Bangalore in particular has developed itself into one of the ICT capitals of the world. The center is in line with our strategy to provide our customers with the best possible IT tools and services to make their businesses more profitable and it also enables us to meet the needs of the global and regional car repair industry."

The ICT Competence Center is part of a unit of Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes India, which was incorporated in 1997.

In 2002, Akzo Nobel opened an international R&D center and a training center which provides training to painters, bodyshop owners and managers. The Indian organization employs a total of 150 people.
