Akzo Nobel Coating Resins Europe Announces Further Price Increases

Published on 2004-10-05. Author : SpecialChem

Due to continued price increases for our key raw materials, Coating Resins Europe is forced to announce further price increases for all Coating Resins, to be effective in the 4th quarter of 2004. The increase will be approximately 8%-10% for acrylic resins and 5-7% for other resin types.

This substantial increase is the result of dramatic increases seen in the last months for all major resin raw materials. These raw material increases have also been accompanied by a worsening supply situation that has included shortages and, more recently, allocation and supply reductions of acrylic monomers.

Further aggravating the situation is the fact that the resins industry has not been able to pass along the steady upward march in raw material costs, that started and continued in 2003 and amazingly has continued in 2004. Akzo Nobel Resins will continue to do everything possible to maintain supply and control costs to its customer base through these very difficult times.
