AGC Enters into a Strategic Alliance with Interpane to Strengthen its Glass Coatings Business

TOKYO -- AGC announced the signing of an agreement between its European subsidiary, AGC Glass Europe (AGEU), and a German glass manufacturer, Interpane, whereby AGC will take control of 51% of Interpane.

The two companies, which are both producers of float glass, will develop mutually complementary processing activities in terms of geographical scope and product specialties. Through the alliance with Interpane, AGC will gain an industrial presence, mainly in the German flat glass market, and aims to strengthen its position in glass coatings by offering new glass functions in building, solar & automotive applications.

The closing of the transaction is subject to customary merger control clearance by the relevant competition authorities.
