5060-BC-70 by Huntsman is a mixed fatty acid-based, water-reducible short oil alkyd resin. It is supplied in water-soluble coupling solvents. It requires neutralization of the built-in acid groups and additional co-solvent before water can be added. The performance of this resin can meet or exceed those of the solvent-borne finishes and at lower VOC levels. Offers a good combination of hardness as well as flexibility, excellent corrosion resistance, good adhesion to steel as well as non-ferrous metals, good gloss retention and a fast rate of air dry especially the chain stopped resins. It is a versatile component for formulating industrial finishes. Typical applications include automotive underbody as well as underhood, coil coatings, electrical insulating enamels and dip tank coatings. 5060-BC-70 is also used in office furniture finishes, drum or metal container finishes and industrial baking enamels as well as prime applications.
