Iron oxide. It is a transparent green pigment. Exhibits high level of color strength and UV absorption properties combined with excellent weather fastness, heat durability as well as alkaline-resistance. It is widely used in combination with aluminum or pearl pigments to produce golden effect in the solvent based systems. In conjunction with more expensive transparent organic pigments, it is used to make transparent paints of various colors. Compatible with acrylic acid, polyester, polyurethane, silicone, fluoro and vinyl ester resins in high as well as middle polar systems. The small particle size of transparent iron oxide results in the pigment with high surface area (about 128m2/g) and therefore, high oil absorption value (80-100). Offers bleed resistance and non-toxicity. Used in industrial paints which are applied over metal to produce gold or copper effects and also widely applicable in interior as well as exterior can coatings. Also used in automotive paints applications.
