SABIC® STYRENE MONOMER (SM)

SABIC® STYRENE MONOMER (SM) by SABIC is a colorless to yellowish styrene monomer with a distinctive aromatic odor. It has a low vapor pressure and high refractive index. It is chemically reactive and undergoes polymerization readily by heat, light or peroxide catalysts. It is sparingly soluble in water but soluble in alcohols, ethers and carbon disulfide. Polymerization results in volumetric shrinkage (17%) and generation of exothermic heat (17.8 Kcal/mole). SABIC® STYRENE MONOMER (SM) is commonly used in the production of styrene homopolymers and copolymers.
