Borchi® R-1320

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Borchers (Milliken)
Borchi® Set 134 by Borchers is a preparation in paste consisting of a modified alkyd resin and an inorganic swelling agent dissolved in a mixture of hydrocarbons and propylene carbonate. Acts as a thickener or rheology modifier. It inhibits the hard settling of coatings containing dense pigments such as barium sulphate and zinc dust. It increases sag resistance while inhibiting hard settling. The thixotropy developed by Borchi® Set 134 is unaffected by temperature. It does not affect the dry speed, hardness, gloss or weathering resistance of the cured film. It is easy to incorporate with conventional high shear dispersing equipment. Applicable for fillers, heavy pigments and metal powders, particularly in zinc-rich paints where it wets out the zinc dust and inhibits water contact in the package and during application which could cause gassing. Compatible with epoxy, epoxy ester, alkyd, chlorinated rubber, vinyl resin polymers/copolymers and polyurethanes. Recommended for solvent based paints. The dosage level is 1-3 % of the total weight of the formulation.
