Borchers® AF 1171 by Borchers (Milliken) is a solvent- & VOC-free, polysiloxane-based defoamer and anti-foaming agent for water- and solvent-based systems. It offers improved film gloss, substrate wetting and color strength in pigmented systems.

It is easy to emulsify in water and avoids microfoam formation during manufacturing.
It supports quick air release of entrapped air in the surface during application.
It should be used in the grinding step, but can also be added in let-down or post-add.
It is designed for coatings based on water-soluble alkyds, polyurethanes, styrenes, straight & vinyl acrylates and hydroxyl-bearing polyacrylates.
It is particularly suitable for mill-base defoaming for aqueous decorative- and general industrial coatings.
The recommended dosage level of Borchers® AF 1171 is 0.05-1.50% on the total weight of the formulation.
