RHEOLATE® 420

RHEOLATE® 420 by Elementis is an economical and versatile alkali swellable thickener in an easy-to-use emulsion form designed to fully or partially replace cellulosic thickeners in a variety of water-borne systems. Provides a high-thickening efficiency in medium shear rate range, high shear rate viscosity, good brush drag. Offers very good sag resistance, good leveling performance, good block and scrub resistance, improved corrosion resistance, easy brushability, and tight roller pattern. Reduces spattering during roller application, paint preparation time, syneresis, and early blistering in acrylic systems. Imparts good spray and anti-settling properties. Develops package viscosity efficiently. Improves freeze/thaw stability, and maintains gloss levels. Resists viscosity loss, re-thickens enzyme-spoiled paint, and shows compatibility with clay-based, cellulosic and associative thickeners. RHEOLATE® 420 is used for applications like gloss, semi-gloss, matte latex paints, industrial coatings, vinyl chloride latices and inks. The typical use level is 0.3-1.0% by weight in paints. It has a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture.
