DISPERBYK® -2055

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by BYK
DISPERBYK® -2055 by Byk (Altana Group) is a high molecular-weight, copolymer with pigment affinic groups. Acts as a 100% wetting and dispersing. It can be used in low-polarity solvent-borne systems, air-drying alkyds, alkyd/melamine resins, nitrocellulose, 2-pack polyurethanes, acrylic/melamine resins and UV-curable coatings and aqueous systems. In solvent-borne systems it can be used with or without grinding resin, whereas in aqueous formulations the best results are achieved with binder-free grinds. It is the perfect additive for co-grinds, in which different pigments are typically ground together, and for pigment concentrates. Stabilizes inorganic pigments including titanium dioxide and transparent iron oxides, organic pigments, carbon blacks, effect pigments, fillers, and matting agents. Possesses good processing viscosity and has no negative impact on coating adhesion (not even when applied directly to metal), water- and chemical resistance, hardness and yellowing resistance. DISPERBYK® -2055 is recommended for industrial-, wood & furniture coatings-, automotive-, coil- and protective coatings. Recommended dosage is 10-35% (organic pigments), 15-80% (carbon blacks), 2-3% (titanium dioxides) and 8-12% (inorganic pigments) of additive based upon total formulation.
