Afcona -3239

Organically modified polyalkyl polysiloxane. Acts as a slip and leveling agent with good defoaming effect. The alkyl modification of AFCONA-3239 is longer than AFCONA-3236 and this makes AFCONA 3239 act as better defoamer. Provides more in-can haziness in more polar systems like polyurethane and epoxy. The longer alkyl modification also gives less slip performance. Use in foam sensitive systems (due to none foam stabilizing properties) like solvent–less epoxies, high solid or solvent-less polyurethane, paints applied by curtain coater, paints applied by airless spray application as well as UV curing systems. For matted finish coatings, addition of AFCONA-3239 will help in matting agent orientation. In UV curing systems, it even further reduces gloss when added together with a matting agent. Is not recommended in high gloss clear coats, due to it can cause in-can haziness. Addition and dosage: 0.05 – 0.50% on total formulation. In general, under normal conditions, the dosage is 0.05 – 0.2% based on total formulation.
