Anti-corrosives
Anti-corrosive pigments are used in primer coats on metallic substrates to combat the occurrence of corrosion. Paints containing these pigments are often referred as anti rust paints. They function by extending the diffusion distance of water and corrosives from the surface. These pigments can act physically, chemically or electrochemically. Anti-corrosive pigments can be based on leads, phosphates, chromates, metals or silicates.
