Rheology Modifiers / Thickeners

In a paint formulation, rheology modifiers / thickeners are added before the dispersing stage to offer particular rheological properties, such as sag resistance and viscosity of application to the preparation. They raise or control the viscosity (thickness) and rheology of paints or pigment preparations and are mostly employed in water-based and solvent-based paints. Rheology modifiers / thickeners can be grouped as organic and inorganic and can be either pseudoplastic or thixotropic in nature.
