Lubricants
Lubricants are added to paints and coatings to facilitate their application as well as to enhance their rheological behaviour and surface characteristics like gloss, smoothness, levelling etc. Adding lubricants also makes the paint/coating film resistant to cracking, peeling and scratching. Polyethylene waxes, metallic stearates, silicones, fluoropolymers, esters and amide of fatty acids are some of the lubricants used in paints and coatings.
