The Universal Selection Source: Coatings Ingredients

Acrylic Coatings
Acrylic resins bring properties like transparency, high colorability and UV resistance. Acrylic coatings can be applied on different substrates like plastics, wood, metal, glass and are often used in waterborne systems, which bring lower VOC levels. These coatings can lead to high surface hardness but also elastomeric finishes, as employed in some fluid applied roof coating systems for buildings. In such wall, deck and roof coatings, acrylic elastomeric formulations bring cold weather elasticity on top of the good UV resistance.

Acrylic Resins Selection for Coatings

By François Magnin

To select Acrylic Resins for coatings, you would need to know about acrylic resin types, their key characteristics and applications. This guide will help you differentiate between pure acrylic resins and non-acrylic monomers. A brief description about acrylic resin forms like thermoplastic acrylic resins, cross-linking acrylic resins and acrylic latexes is offered as well. This guide also focuses on the main parameters to consider while selecting acrylic resins for your coating formulation.
